Terms

These terms explain what Splitzer is, what it isn’t, and what we expect of each other. Please read them, together with the privacy notice, before you continue with Google.

Effective date: 7 October 2026Notice version: 2026-10-07

Who runs Splitzer

Splitzer is a free app for sharing expenses. It is run by Gokul G, an individual based in India, and not by a company. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Gokul G, and “you” means the person using Splitzer.

These terms are an agreement between you and us. By continuing with Google and using Splitzer, you accept these terms and confirm that you have read the privacy notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Splitzer.

You can reach us at any time using the details in the Contact section at the end of these terms.

Who can use Splitzer

You must be 18 or older to use Splitzer. When you continue with Google, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

Your account is for your own use. Don’t create an account for someone else, and don’t share your account.

What Splitzer does

Splitzer helps you record expenses you share with other people, such as on trips, in a shared home or with friends. It works out each person’s share, shows who owes whom, suggests a short list of payments that would settle a group, and lets you record payments that people have made to each other outside Splitzer.

You can also comment on expenses, see each expense’s history, and download your expenses as a CSV file.

What Splitzer doesn’t do

Splitzer is a record-keeping tool. It never initiates, collects, holds or transfers money, and it is not a bank, wallet, payment service or lender. It doesn’t send payment requests or create payment links.

When you record a payment in Splitzer, you are noting that money changed hands somewhere else, for example by UPI, bank transfer or cash. Splitzer can’t check that a payment really happened.

Shares, balances and suggested payments are arithmetic based on what members enter. They aren’t financial, tax or legal advice. If you need advice, speak to a qualified professional.

Our fair-free promise

Splitzer is free to use. There are no caps, no ads and no timers on adding, editing, splitting, settling up, searching or exporting your expenses, and nothing is sold in Splitzer today.

If we ever offer optional paid extras, the core expense tracker will stay free, and we will tell you clearly before anything costs money.

To protect the service from abuse, the same generous limits apply to everyone, such as how quickly one account can create links, add people or post comments, and how large a group or an expense can be. These limits don’t affect normal use.

Your account and Google sign-in

You sign in with your Google account. Our sign-in provider, Clerk, handles the sign-in, and Splitzer never sees your Google password. Google shares only your name, email address and basic profile with Splitzer.

Keep your Google account secure. Anything done while you are signed in to Splitzer is treated as done by you. If you think someone else has used your account, secure your Google account and tell us.

Your content and shared records

You own what you add to Splitzer, such as expenses, notes and comments. You allow us to store it, and to show it to the people you share it with, only so that Splitzer can work for you and for them.

Everyone in a group can see the group’s name, its members’ display names, and all of its expenses, payments, comments, history and activity, including records added before they joined. Expenses you share with friends outside a named group are visible to the people on them. Other members don’t see your email address.

Every member of a group can add, edit, delete and restore its expenses, record payments, and add or remove members. Changes are kept in each expense’s history and in the group’s activity. Comments can’t be edited or deleted once posted.

Anyone who has a group’s invite link can join that group until a member revokes the link, so share invite links only with people you want in the group.

People you add by name, and claim links

You can add someone who isn’t on Splitzer yet by entering their name and, if you like, one email address. Only add people you really share expenses with, and only add an email address if they would expect you to use it this way. Don’t add the contact details of anyone under 18.

Splitzer doesn’t contact the people you add. Instead, you can share a claim link with them yourself, for example on WhatsApp. A claim link works once and expires after 14 days. Whoever opens it and confirms takes over that person’s place in every group they were added to, so share it only with the person it is meant for.

Normally, only the person who added a name-only friend can share their claim link or change their name and email address. Changing or removing the email address cancels any claim links already shared.

If someone signs in with an email address that matches one you entered, Splitzer asks them whether the place is theirs before linking anything.

Acceptable use

Use Splitzer lawfully and with respect for other people. In particular, don’t:

  • use it for anything illegal, fraudulent or misleading, or to record debts you know are false;
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, including in names, notes and comments;
  • enter sensitive details that expenses don’t need, such as card or bank account numbers, passwords, government ID numbers or health information;
  • pretend to be someone else, or claim a place that isn’t yours;
  • try to reach groups or data you haven’t been given, guess links, or get around the limits that protect the service;
  • overload, scrape or interfere with Splitzer, including with automated tools.

Accuracy and responsibility for records

You are responsible for what you enter. Splitzer calculates balances only from what members record, so check expenses and balances with the people involved before you settle up.

Splitzer doesn’t decide who is right in a disagreement. Any dispute about money is between the people involved. If a record is wrong, any member of the group can correct it, and the history shows what changed.

Keep your own copy of anything important. You can download your expenses as a CSV file from the You tab at any time.

Service availability and changes

Splitzer is new, and we run it on a best-effort basis. We work to keep it available and your records safe, including with nightly backups, but we can’t promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.

We may change, add or remove features to improve Splitzer or to meet legal requirements. If we decide to shut Splitzer down, we will tell you in advance and give you time to download your data.

Deleting your account, and suspension

You can stop using Splitzer at any time and delete your account from the You tab. Deleting your account doesn’t settle your balances, so settle up with the people involved first if you can.

When you delete your account, your name is replaced with “Former member”, and your email address and other contact details are removed. Your past shares, payments and comments stay in your groups, because other members need them for correct balances and history. A deletion can’t be undone. If you sign in with the same Google account later, you start again with a new, empty account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the service at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Limitation of liability

Splitzer is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We take reasonable care in running it, but to the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for:

  • losses caused by records that you or other members entered, or by disagreements between members about money;
  • payments, debts or arrangements between you and other people, which are entirely between you and them;
  • indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost opportunities;
  • problems caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our service providers.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Splitzer changes or the law requires it. The terms and the privacy notice share one notice version, shown with its effective date at the top of each page.

When we make a change that matters, we publish it here with a new notice version, and Splitzer asks you to read and accept it the next time you use the app. Until you accept, you can still read these pages, sign out or delete your account. If you don’t agree with a change, you can delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you have a concern, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.
